Playstation 2 models/versions

Generally, when we have Laser eye upgrades, we have a new MODEL,
and when we have a mainboard or any other update, we have a new VERSION.

SCPH-3xxxx models

- V1/V2 consoles - SCPH-3xxxx + serial number u1xxxxx/u0xxxxx

You can recognize these versions by the diferent type of sticker, or by the serial number.

 

- V3 consoles - SCPH-3xxxx + 10 screws

You can recognize these versions,
if you count 10 screws underside the PS2.

V3 inside!

- V4 consoles - SCPH-3xxxx + 8 screws

You can recognize these versions,
if you count 8 screws underside the PS2.

V4 inside!

SCPH-3xxxxR / SCPH-39xxx models

- V4R consoles - SCPH-3xxxxR + 2 screws in the expansion bay

You can recognize these versions, if you open the "Expansion Bay" and count 2 screws in gold colour.

This screw, should be missing!

- V5/V6/V7/V8 consoles - SCPH-3xxxxR + 3 screws in the expansion bay - normal type

To distinguish V5/V6 from V4R consoles open the "Expansion Bay". You should count 2 screws in gold colour and 1 screw in silver colour.

V5 and V6 consoles, have a normal type connector,
that connect Eject/Reset button to the mainboard.

- V6R consoles - SCPH-3xxxxR + 3 screws in the expansion bay - reversed type

To distinguish V5/V6 from V4R consoles open the "Expansion Bay". You should count 2 screws in gold colour and 1 screw in silver colour.

V6R consoles, have a reversed type connector,
that connect Eject/Reset button to the mainboard.

SCPH-5xxxx models
- V9 consoles - SCPH-5xxxx
You can recognise these version, by the sticker. For being 100% sure about this version, you will have to open the console and see the motherboard.  
- V10 consoles - SCPH-5xxxxa
You can recognise these version, by the sticker. Looking closely in the sticker, after the model No (SCPH-5xxxx) there a small "a".

SCPH-7xxxx models (PStwo Slim)
- V11/V12 consoles - SCPH-7xxxx
These versions are the Slim PStwo consoles. To determine these version, simple check the model number.  
- V13/v14 consoles - SCPH-75xxx
To determine these version, simple check the model number.
